Schopenhauer is generally (unjustly) under-appreciated in philosophy in general, not just existentialism, being eclipsed by larger figures like Hegel, Kierkegaard, and of course Nietzsche. It is most certainly (and have been) argued that Camus got his inspirations from Greek myth, Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, analyses which usually omit Schopenhauer.
